1 out of 5 stars This is the stupidest, gayest, sickest, saddest, and most pathetic piece of trash!   January 7, 2009
Jonathon Taylor
Why in the world has this pathetic movie gotten such good praise? This film is the stupidest, sickest, saddest, idiotic, racist, and the most pathetic piece of cinematic trash I have ever seen. Who do people think they are when they watch this movie? What they are, are drug addicts. What does this film glorify? It glorifies a bad influence. It's no wonder people ate it up. Just reading the glowing reviews that this film has received makes me mourn the present state of society. I agree with the negative reviews. They are absolutely right when it comes to this film. This film is juvenile and immature, and the immaturity is on a very high level. I regret ever setting my sights on this film...a bad influence, and a disease to society. Why this film has gained a cult following is something that I will never understand in my life. It is very very sad how people could eat up this film. Also, the singing in this film is not singing at all. I know I'm going to receive negative firepower for this, but nothing is further from the truth. This film must be avoided. Do not even buy it. Do not touch it. Do not even go near it.

and, a warning to outsiders. Don't be fooled by the cult following for this movie. All buyers beware

3 out of 5 stars A Sweet Transvestite From Transsexual Transylvania!!!   December 28, 2008
Jigsaw (Kentucky)
I received this as a Christmas present, and I thought it was pretty good. My favorite character was Dr. Frank N. Furter. It was awesome to see Tim Curry dressed as a transvestite and I loved the song he sang about being a sweet tranvestite from transexual Transylvania! It was also awesome to see a young sexy Susan Sarandon being in a bra and panties practically the whole movie. I also loved how it had the classic look of the 70's! I would probably recommend THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great Buy   December 27, 2008

I always liked the movie when it was on VHS and now it is even better on DVD. I received my order very quickly and the product was well taken care of.

5 out of 5 stars Oh the horror; oh the fun...   December 24, 2008
Andrew Ellington (Mulholland Drive)
To say that there is no other film out there quite like `The Rocky Horror Picture Show' is definitely putting it mildly. There is a local theater near me that plays this movie every Sunday night and I finally brought myself to go down there and see it. I'm telling you, the experience of seeing it at midnight with a bunch of...well...anyways, it was almost as big an experience as the movie itself, but this is not a review of the time I had, but the film so I will refrain from anymore details.

The film is a total head-trip, but in a good way; a great way even. Janet Weiss and her boyfriend Brad Majors are stranded and need some help so they stumble onto a mansion that looks promising, but instead they are introduced to a slew of creepy creatures from the Transylvanian galaxy that show that a romping good time filled with singing, dancing and some naughty after party action.

Like I said; head-trip.

I really don't know what else there is to say about this movie because it's less a movie and more an experience. Sure it has a campy sci-fi plot and it executes it well (complete with monster creations and alien banishment) but that is not the point.

You have to experience it to believe it; seriously.

The acting is flawless throughout, especially from the two leads; Curry and Sarandon. Susan Sarandon, one of our most capable actresses working today, or ever, is amazing here. This is one of her earliest roles. She's young and stunning and commanding in every scene; and what a voice. Tim Curry tackles what may be considered one of the most fearless roles in the history of cinema as Dr. Frank-N-Furter. There is no hesitation in his step for he is fully confident and comfortable in his platform shoes. Without that confidence this performance and this film would have tanked, big time, but Curry carries it on his shoulders flawlessly.

Why can't Oscar recognize greatness like this?

In the end I highly recommend this film. It is not a film for everyone, but it is a film that everyone should experience at least once. There is nothing else out that even comes remotely close to this film, in subject and in execution. These are those rarities that will never be repeated. Indulge, guiltily, in what has to be the worlds most famous guilty pleasure.

2 out of 5 stars Let's do the Time Warp again.   November 26, 2008

Aside from the "Time Warp" sequence, I've always thought this movie was just uninteresting. It has a few good moments but... I just bought it so I could have a copy of "The Time Warp."
