Product Description As the last robot left on earth wall-e is one small robot wh holds the future of earth and mankind squarely in the palm of hismetal hand. Studio: Buena Vista Home Video Release Date: 11/18/2008 Starring: Ben Burtt Run time: 98 minutes Rating: G Director: Andrew Stanton
Amazon.com Pixar genius reigns in this funny romantic comedy, which stars a robot who says absolutely nothing for a full 25 minutes yet somehow completely transfixes and endears himself to the audience within the first few minutes of the film. As the last robot left on earth, Wall-E (voiced by Ben Burtt) is one small robot--with a big, big heart--who holds the future of earth and mankind squarely in the palm of his metal hand. He's outlasted all the "Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class" robots that were assigned some 700 years ago to clean up the environmental mess that man made of earth while man vacationed aboard the luxury spaceship Axiom. Wall-E has dutifully gone about his job compacting trash, the extreme solitude broken only by his pet cockroach, but he's developed some oddly human habits and ideas. When the Axiom sends its regularly scheduled robotic EVE probe (Elissa Knight) to earth, Wall-E is instantly smitten and proceeds to try to impress EVE with his collection of human memorabilia. EVE's directive compels her to bring Wall-E's newly collected plant sprout to the captain of the Axiom and Wall-E follows in hot pursuit. Suddenly, the human world is turned upside down and the Captain (Jeff Garlin) joins forces with Wall-E and a cast of other misfit robots to lead the now lethargic people back home to earth. Wall-E is a great family film with the most impressive aspect being the depth of emotion conveyed by a simple robot--a machine typically considered devoid of emotion, but made so absolutely touching by the magic of Pixar animation. Also well-worth admiring are the sweeping views from space, the creative yet disturbing vision of what strange luxuries a future space vacation might offer, and the innovative use of trash in a future cityscape. Underneath the slapstick comedy and touching love story is a poignant message about the folly of human greed and its potential effects on earth and the entire human race. Wall-E is preceded in theaters by the comical short Presto in which a magician's rabbit, unfed one too many times takes his revenge against the egotistical magician. FANTASTIC!!! MOVIE OF THE YEAR January 9, 2009 Sean Hickey (Slidell, LA United States) This is unbelievably great. Better and better on each viewing. WALL-E should be the NEW ET. Critics have been loving it but the populace needs to get more onboard with how great this movie is. Well worth the price. Get this now.
WALL-E review January 9, 2009 Adrian B. Waller (Houston, TX) I heard good things about this movie before I saw it and it still exceeded my expectations. The story is fantastic, along with great attention for detail, and of course cutting edge animation this movie is hugely entertaining! Not only is it a fantastic flick, but gives a disturbing portrayal of the Earth and it's civilizations future if changes aren't made. I haven't seen an animated film as well thought out as this one!
A Must-Have Reference Title January 9, 2009 Richard Brackin Jr. (North Alabama) This movie is clearer than Ratatouille, which is something I didn't now could be achieved. I don't have a DTS-HD Master Audio home theater setup so I can't vouch for the multi channel audio but the Blu-Ray video is nothing short of stunning. I've heard the movie on a Wilson Audio system and the sound in 2.0 channel stereo is incredible. I can't fathom the full DTS-HD Master Audio. The only annoying thing is the bonus "geek" version has people silhouetted on a sofa doing commentary. This is annoying and masks the bottom right corner of the screen. Other than that, this thing is flawless. 5 stars all the way, all day. every day. Highly recommended if you want to show off how good your HDTV picture is. :)
Great movie! January 9, 2009 BusyMommy (MI United States) My son loves to watch this movie over and over and I don't mind letting him. Does contain a small amount of violence that may be scary for very young children. Has some good talking points for older children about taking care of the Earth.
WALL-E January 9, 2009 Louis J. Corsiglia (queens ny) I loved this movie, than again I have yet to see a PIXAR movie I have not loved. From the first teaser images a year before the movie opened I was interested and bless their little digital souls PIXAR delivered a movie that was near perfect. The film was so good I did not mind the heavy handed environmental message, the character of WALL- E was just so charming that the lefty message did not distract from a very enjoyable film.
